| One of the nation's most explosive running backs in his two college seasons, the third-year sophomore joined Herschel Walker as the only players in Georgia history with back-to-back 1,000-yard efforts. Rushed for 1,400 yards and 16 touchdowns in 2008, a year after rolling up 1,334 yards and 14 TDs in his first season. Averaged 5.5 yards per carry with the Bulldogs. Fast and elusive, he projects as a big-play threat in the NFL who's equally comfortable finding seams inside to run through and bouncing the play outside. Boasts excellent athleticism and is a strong finisher of runs, as evidenced by his 30 rushing TDs in two seasons and spectacular leaps into the end zone. A threat to break off a long touchdown run anytime he touches the ball. Should also prove to be an outstanding receiving threat in the pros, as he averaged 12.2 yards on 53 receptions in college. Is not a stereotypical "scatback" that's fast but looks to avoid contact; plays physical and seems to relish hitting defenders as well as absorbing hits. That style, coupled with his size, will lead to inevitable questions about his durability and whether he can handle being a workhorse back in the pros. However, he didn't miss a game in college, and teams with high first-round picks won't want to repeat the mistake made in 2007 with current Minnesota Viking Adrian Peterson - another star running back in college who has a style similar to Moreno's and has become one of the NFL's top players, but wasn't taken until the seventh pick. Moreno should be chosen in the top 10. |
