Analysis: The rookie left-hander has lost both of his starts since getting recalled, allowing eight runs in nine innings. He's 0-6 with an 11.20 ERA in eight major league outings since beating the Giants on May 6.

Analysis: Garrett's first big league start in 2 1/2 months was much like many of the others prior to his demotion to the minors. The 25-year-old served up three homers, giving him a whopping 22 allowed in 63 1/3 innings with the Reds this season. He may have a future in Cincinnati, but he's clearly not a fantasy option at the present time.

Analysis: The left-hander has been awful in his last six starts, going 0-4 with a 12.49 ERA. That's come after the rookie went 3-2 with a 4.25 ERA in his first six outings, which included five quality starts.

Analysis: Garrett left the game after taking a hard comebacker off the palm of his left hand, but X-rays were negative and he was diagnosed with a bruised hand. ''It doesn't look like there's going to be any longstanding issues,'' said Reds manager Bryan Price.

Analysis: Garrett, who gave up a two-run homer to Justin Turner in the first inning, attempted to catch a shot off the bat of Austin Barnes to open the second. Garrett went to the ground immediately and laid there for several minutes. He took practice pitches but was unable to continue.

Analysis: Garrett was in line for the win until the Pirates tied it in the eighth. He bounced back after allowing 10 runs in 3 1/3 innings of an 11-7 loss at Milwaukee on April 24. Prior to that dud, the rookie left-hander went 2-1 with a 1.83 ERA in his first three starts.

Analysis: Garrett tied the Reds' modern record for a rookie left-hander by striking out 12. Dennys Reyes also fanned a dozen Pirates in 1998. Gary Nolan set the club's modern rookie record by fanning 15 Giants in 1967.

Analysis: Garrett (2-0), the former St. John's basketball player, blanked the Pirates until David Freese hit a two-run homer. Garrett gave up five hits, walked none and struck out five in 6 2/3 innings. In his major league debut last week, the 24-year-old pitched six scoreless innings to win at St. Louis.
